Top 10 effort for Texas A&M in 2017-18 Learfield Director’s Cup Standings

By  |

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M placed No. 10 overall and No. 3 in the Southeastern Conference in the final 2017-18 Learfield Directors’ Cup standings that were released on Saturday.

“A top 10 finish in the Learfield Directors' Cup is no small feat and something that Aggies everywhere can take pride in,” Texas A&M Director of Athletics Scott Woodward said. “Our success is made possible by the tremendous hard work and sacrifice that our coaches, student-athletes, and staff display on a daily basis. I'm excited about the accomplishments and progress we've made throughout our athletics department, but I am also looking forward to continued growth and achievements in the future.”

It was Texas A&M’s first top 10 effort since 2013-14 and a two-spot improvement from last year’s No. 12 finish. It was the 13th straight year that the Aggies have finished in the final top 25 of the Directors’ Cup and it was the sixth time that Texas A&M’s athletics program has placed in the top 10.

Seventeen of Texas A&M’s 19 NCAA-sponsored athletics programs contributed points to the final standings, including top 10 efforts by women’s swimming and diving (No. 3), men’s tennis (No. 3), men’s indoor track and field (No. 5), men’s golf (No. 5), men’s outdoor track and field (No. 7), men’s basketball (No. 9), women’s basketball (No. 9), softball (No. 9) and women’s indoor track and field (No. 10).
