Brazos Valley Bucket List: Guadalajara Mexican Restaurant

We hope you're hungry, because this week's Brazos Valley Bucket List takes us to the Guadalajara Mexican Restaurant in Brenham.

From the moment the restaurant opens its doors at 11am, they are packed.

Manager Juan Paniagua says, "We always have a buffet. 7 days a week at lunchtime."

On that buffet, you'll find all the usual suspects - tacos, enchiladas, quesadillas - but what makes this restaurant unique is while you wait in line for that buffet, you'll get an up close look at how the food is made.

That's where Margarita Morcira comes in. She is the in-house tortilla making expert.

She says, "The longest process is making all the balls of dough. The little balls of dough."

She certainly makes a lot of them - 300 on a normal day and 600 on Friday, the restaurant's busiest day.

Her work often attracts quite the crowd.

"Many people bring the kids to the counter so they can watch. They like to see how I make the tortillas."

The customers, though, aren't the only ones enjoying the fruits of her labor.

Margarita says, "I eat one per day."
