The Brazos Valley Bucket List - The King's Orchard & The BV Farmer's Market

Updated: Wed 10:00 AM, Aug 25, 2010

Every Monday and Wednesday this month, we'll be bringing you the Brazos Valley Bucket List.

It's a series that will focus on things one should do before leaving the Brazos Valley.

We start things off with two things on that list that have really grown on folks.

Just south of Plantersville, you'll find the King's Orchard. It's a hands on kind of experience that allows folks of all ages to pick their own fruit, vegetables and even flowers.

"We like to come out and pick whatever vegetables or fruits are in season and it's just for fun," said Tim Tristan from Kingwood.

Tristan came to spend some time with his grandson at the orchard.

"The more fun he has, the more fun I have. We'll come back many more times and he'll probably bring his children back to do it too," said Tristan.

From the perfect peach to brilliant blueberries there's always something that is ripe for the picking.

"I recommend it to anybody who is looking for something to do, especially with their kids. Most of them don't have any experience with farms, then again, most of the adults probably don't either," joked Tristan.

But if you don't want to pick your own produce, there is another option.

The Brazos Valley Farmers Market is held twice a week and gives fans of fresh food another green option.

"It's really nice because I know there is a lot of farmers around here and it's nice to give them a chance to sell there stuff and meet people from the community too," said College Station resident Cody Watson.
