Since 2005, a 1940's diner has been sitting on the side of Wellborn Road serving up some of the finest food in the Brazos Valley.
"I'm certainly proud of it. I think we've made a unique niche out here," said Rich Risbon owner of Hullabaloo's Diner.
Risbon hails from Pennsylvania and when you add that to his Italian roots, you'll find his food has a certain flair.
"My grandmother still gets on me for making stuff with her recipes that aren't exactly how she makes them. So to her, it's not right," said Risbon.
But the authentic philly steak sandwich is right on.
"It just had a really good flavor and taste," said Nancy Sutton after finishing off her sandwich.
"Yeah, the meat is real good. It's not greasy, it's perfect," said Don Caldwell.
"It's very filling, it's a big sandwich. It's just a good, filling steak sandwich," said Risbon.
The philly at Hullabaloo's Diner has a big following thanks to an appearance on national television. Back when Diners, Drive-ins and Dives first got started on the Food Network, Rich's diner made its debut.
"It definitely helped. It's brought people in from all over the state. Every time there is a re-run, we have people from San Antonio, Dallas and Houston all coming in because people follow that show pretty religiously," said Risbon.
And business is growing thanks to the additions of a pizza parlor and a soon to be Italian deli. And don't forget to get dessert on your way out.
"You can't forget a piece of pie afterward, if you can handle it," joked Caldwell.
The philly steak sandwich and a piece a pie from the Hullabaloo Diner in Wellborn. A tasty check mark on our Brazos Valley Bucket List.
