Just south of Washington-On-The-Brazos, you'll find The Inn At Dos Brisas.
The horses at the 313-acre ranch are in just as much of a relaxed state as the guests thanks to this peaceful piece of Texas.
"I can honestly say the majority of our guests are from the Houston market as well as Austin. When they come to this beautiful area, they're just stunned. They like to say this is a hidden treasure for them," said Brent Gresham, general manager of the Inn at Dos Brisas.
Currently the resort has just four casitas for visitors and when you arrive, the world just disappears.
"It's not scripted here like it is at other luxury hotels," said Gresham.
Chef Raj Dixit is one of the main reasons the resort rises above the rest. The only Forbes Five-Star restaurant in Texas, the Inn has the inside track on freshness thanks to its plentiful gardens.
Herbs, fruits, and vegetables are all grown on site and picked daily for each meal.
"Essentially, that's our menu planning. The menu is by the day depending on what's ready and what we're excited about," said Dixit.
"To see a chef actually looking for the best product and for it to be on your plate in a matter of minutes, it's a little surreal for the guests," said Gresham.
And when Chef Dixit makes it to the kitchen, that's when the real magic happens.
"A lot time people come to a resort like this and they feel a little intimidated by the cuisine and that's about the furthest thing we're trying to go for. What we're trying to do is just connect a community here through the food," said Dixit.
With a cart full of fresh ingredients at his disposal Raj ratchets up the cuisine each and every night.
"There isn't a thought process, it's letting the dishes speak for themselves and tell us how to cook them," said Dixit.
And you just never know what to expect from the five-star kitchen.
"It really depends on the guest. We try to make a menu really unique to each couple, each table," said Dixit.
For the folks at the Inn, it's all about telling the story of Texas through the fruits that the Lone Star State provides.
"We're telling the story from that micro herb being pulled from the ground, to how it is prepared, and to how we place it in front of our guests," said Gresham.
