Two students from Forest Ridge Elementary School in College Station traveled to the Texas Capitol building this week as the 83rd Legislative Session kicked off. Haylee Young and Karisa Winkelmann attended the swearing in ceremony for local representatives John Raney and Kyle Kacal.

Both girls were able to get an excused absence from school in exchange for an essay describing their experience in Austin. The girls said they had a great time at and have already handed in their essays with pictures to the school's principal.
