Montgomery Elementary School is one of just 26 schools in the state nominated for the 2012 Blue Ribbon Schools recognition.

Schools nominated for the award are said to serve as models of best practices for schools across the state.

Montgomery Elementary and the other schools will now complete a rigorous application process through the U.S. Department of Education.

The winners will be announced in September and will be recognized at the Blue Ribbon Conference in Washington D.C.
