At its most recent city council meeting, the City of College Station put its Parks and Recreation Department front and center.

The Texas Amateur Athletic Federation honored the city with the Silver Member City Award, which is based on individual participants, teams and officials that are registered.

In addition to the city receiving the honor, parks and rec staffers Jana Church and Sheila Walker were recognized for their commitment to TAAF and for their work with the Texas Games, the annual Olympic-style sports festival held since the mid-1980s in Waco.
