The Aquatics Division of the City of College Station’s Parks and Recreation Department has been selected as the Texas Public Pool Council’s Agency of the Year among cities with more than 75,000 people.
The College Station City Council recognized the department prior to its Thursday night meeting.
The award cited city aquatics programs such as theme days, the junior lifeguard program and family swim nights. It also recognized the department’s innovative staff recruiting and training techniques.
College Station opened its first aquatics facility, Adamson Lagoon, in 1974. The city has since added two additional outdoor swimming pools, one splash pad, and one indoor collaborative-use natatorium with the College Station Independent School District. College Station Aquatics serves approximately 166,000 guests each year.
