As Democrats and Republicans prepare for Election Day, the Sam Houston State University Junior Fellows and Samuel Walker Houston Elementary School are preparing for the future-by teaching kids the importance of voting.

The Junior Fellows arrived at Samuel Walker Houston Elementary to host a mock election for students, who learned by actually casting ballots.

The exercise involved students K through 4, and was customized to the age group.

The final result of their mock election showed President Obama received 67 percent of the votes with Romney receiving 33 percent.
