Linda Morten has cooking down to an art and she's turned her love of cooking into cash.

"I was very fortunate to stay home and raise my kids," says Linda Morten.

Since she was a stay at home mother, besides being there for her children, she still wanted to find a job, but not just any job.

Morten says, "I had a lot of time at the house to figure out a way to make money and cooking was it...cooking contests."

Once she went to work in the kitchen there was no stopping her because the sweet taste of success would eventually find its way into her life.

Morten recalls, "My very first was with a little bitty magazine and the contest was for cookies and I won $35.00 and that was the beginning. The most money I've ever won was the Cattlewomen's Association National Beef Cook-Off and it's all about beef and Texas is all about beef and that was a big $50,000 prize."

Whether she's focusing on beef, creating casseroles or experimenting with exotic dishes, Linda's source of inspiration has always been her family and the desire to win.

Morten says, "Being hungry. Staying hungry makes you prepare really neat things. When you stay hungry, your saliva and your taste buds in your mouth just start going."

That's just one tip Linda passes along and unlike many other chefs, she doesn't mind sharing her recipes or dishing out advice.

"What's the secret to a great crust on your chicken fried steak? Buttermilkā€¦buttermilk," advises Morten.

Whether she's winning contests or cooking for her loved ones, Linda's love of food and family will continue to fuel this country cooker's creative juices and the best part is that she gets to work from home.

"The serenity of being in your own home. You like to entertain, make people happy, cooking good things, the wow factor...wow," says Morten.

Linda definitely has a zest for cooking and she says anybody can do it all you need is the desire to want to cook. Some more good advice from Linda is you don't have to go out and buy expensive gadgets. She uses ordinary cooking utensils and says they work just fine.

If you want to sample the world of competitive cooking just like Linda's done, she suggests you go online to Cooking Contest Central all you have to do is click on the provided link.
