Kiplinger’s 10 Great Places to Live
An annual ranking of the best parts of the country has Bryan/College Station third overall.
Kiplinger's Personal Finance's 2013 edition of "America's 10 Great Places to Live" has this area just behind Little Rock, Arkansas and Burlington, Vermont.
“Each year we take a look at America’s cities and choose those that stand out in a particular category—say, for raising a family, starting out after college or enjoying retirement,” said the editor of Kiplinger's, Janet Bodnar, in a press release issued by both cities. “The cities in this year’s rankings have a manageable size combined with a wide range of benefits that allow residents to enjoy a convenient and comfortable lifestyle.”
As expected, the mayors of the cities were pleased by the ranking.
“Bryan is an exceptional city, no matter what stage of life you’re in,” Bryan Mayor Jason Bienski said the press release. “We have access to the best in education and health care, we’re experiencing strong business development and job growth in all areas of the city, and our historic downtown is once again earning the reputation as a true destination. We really mean it when we say Bryan offers The Good Life, Texas Style.”
“I’m delighted Kiplinger's recognized us as a great place to live,” College Station Mayor Nancy Berry added. “Of course, it's no secret to those who call College Station home. We're a safe city, have great parks and amenities, super schools and a wonderful arts community; plus, we're home to Texas A&M University. Add it up and you're living in one of the greatest places in the country.”
Bryan/College Station is the only Texas area on the list.
