Two fishermen made a big catch recently at Birch Creek on Lake Somerville.
Rick and Jeff caught a blue catfish that weighed in at more than 50 pounds.
The men asked park specialists to help them get an accurate weight. The fish was so large, it broke the first scale they tried to use. Park officials took the fish to another scale where it registered at 52 pounds.
The largest fish ever caught at Lake Somerville was 88 pounds.
