The Doppler Radar on top of the Texas A&M's Oceanography and Meteorology Building has a new look to it after months of improvements, including a new paint job and improvements to the electronics inside the dish.
The upgrades enable A&M to assist the weather service with monitoring atmospheric conditions and also gives students a continuing tool in their studies of weather.
"To have a radar as a part of a school of meteorology is very important and to have the hands on for the students is really an irreplaceable experience," said Don Conlee, PhD., an Instructional Associate Professor for the Texas A&M Department of Atmospheric Sciences.
The repainting process alone took more than two months.
