A young rider is heading to Colorado this month for a national competition.
Aly Ghormley, of Madisonville, has qualified for the National Little Britches Rodeo Association Finals in Pueblo, Colo. The event will take place July 23-28.
The NLBRA is a national junior rodeo organization with approximately 2,000 kids from 21 states competing in Little Britches rodeos in 16 states each year. The company is headquartered in Denver, with the finals at the Colorado State Fairgrounds in Pueblo.
Ghormley will compete in the finals with three horses, each in a different event. She will ride “Sherry (Sassys Music Baby)” in barrel racing, “Tank” for goat tying and “Midget” in polebending. “Midget” is owned by Aly Ghormley’s sister, Megan Ghormley, who with the horse won the Texas State High School Rodeo and its national equivalent in 2010.
The Little Britches rider is the daughter of Mike and Pam Ghormley. She is the granddaughter of Wanda Bedenbaugh.
