Rudder FFA Receives Top Honors at State Convention

The Rudder High School FFA Chapter competed at the 85th annual Texas FFA State Convention in Dallas July 8th through the 12th.

There were 108 entries total participating in this year's fair, and Rudder was named as a 5th place gold-level chapter for the esteemed Golden Horizon award.

Nathan Cervenka and MaryFrances Fazzino placed first in the convention's Agriscience Fair. Cervenka and Fazzino participated in the Animal Systems category, and tested various types of fly control measures used with livestock.

Gretchen Vilas also placed first in the Power, Structural and Technical Systems category. Vilas' project tested various types of protective clothing for its ability to provide fire protection and spark resistance.
