A Sealy police officer is being honored for an act of valor after he was injured during a police chase last March.
During the chase, the driver shot at officer Eric Gum, when the bullet hit the windshield in front of his head it caused injuries to his face.
Despite his injuries he continued the chase until the suspects car crashed and the suspect was caught.
For that service, Gum was one of the 22 outstanding area law enforcement officers honored last month at the Houston 100 Club's 59th Annual Heroes Awards Banquet.
He will also be honored by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education this summer with another award of valor.
