One of the long-standing traditions for a Corps member at Texas A&M is to get a pair of senior boots.
Norris Miertschin is a World War II veteran and during his academic career at A&M, many things were rationed, including leather. That kept Miertschin from getting his own pair of boots.
Miertschin was recently surprised at a family gathering. He was awarded the Commander's Medal. Two current cadets also gave him his own pair of senior boots, 67 years after he was scheduled to receive them.
