Farewell for Outgoing CSFD Chief Monday


COLLEGE STATION The fire chief of the City of College Station hits the road this week.

A chance to say farewell to the retiring R.B. Alley comes Monday at 3:30 p.m. at the new Fire Station No. 6, located at the corner of University Drive and Tarrow.

The city announced Alley's retirement early this month. He became CSFD's chief in 2005 after serving in Virginia Beach, Virginia since 1973. He'll retire to Virginia Beach.

Alley was named Chief of the Year by the Texas Fire Chiefs Association for 2012.

Assistant Fire Chief Eric Hurt has been named as the interim fire chief as city leaders search for Alley's successor.
