Latest Aggie 100 List Honors Top Companies

TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY Another Aggie 100 list is out, and local businesses are well-represented on the rankings.

Each year, the Center for New Ventures and Entrepreneurship at the Mays Business School at Texas A&M comes out with a list of the 100 fastest-growing Aggie-owned or Aggie-led businesses in the world.

The ninth annual event to recognize those 100 was held at the Zone Club at Kyle Field Friday afternoon. Former Texas A&M head football coach R.C. Slocum was the keynote speaker.

This year, in order to get recognized, a business has to have been around for at least five years, have revenues for at least a quarter-million dollars for 2010, and the operations have to fall in line with the Aggie Code of Honor.

The top 100 generated a reported $19.9 billion in revenue for 2012, and employed more than 9,000 people.

Nine of those are from the Bryan/College Station area. The local list is topped by the sixth-fastest growing Aggie company, Woodbolt International, a Bryan manufacturing company in business since 2002 and owned by Doss Cunningham from the Class of 2004. The company saw 140.51 percent growth in the year measured.

Four of the nine local winners are in classes from the 2000s, including the youngest person on the Aggie 100, Ross Morel, a 2010 graduate who founded the FrogSlayer software company right after he got his degree.

Cleburne-based Lyness Construction tops the overall list with 261 percent growth for the 2013 awards.
