Local Representatives Take Part in Texas Tribune Forum at A&M

TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY A trio of representatives for the region at the state capitol took part in an event on the Texas A&M campus Thursday.

The Texas Tribune hosted the conversation with Sen. Charles Schwertner, Rep. John Raney and Rep. Kyle Kacal at the Memorial Student Center. The event was streamed live on the non-profit news organization's website.

Tribune Editor-in-Chief Evan Smith and the three elected officials touched on a number of topics, including funding education, population growth, border security and the Republican Party. All three are members.

Schwertner and Raney each have opponents in the November general election. Kacal won in his party's primary this month, and has no opponents for the general election.
