A lot of local law enforcement leaders have spent large parts of their careers at the departments they head up now, but Texas A&M University Police Department Chief Elmer Schneider probably has as long, if not a longer tenure than anyone in the area.
After 42 years at UPD -- he's been the chief since 2004 -- Schneider is retiring from his post.
A reception is set for Friday from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at the Annenburg Presidential Conference Center at the Bush Library complex. Presentations to the chief will get underway at 3:45 p.m.
