There are two and a half weeks until from the start of school in Bryan-College Station. For some College Station students that means going to a brand new high school.

College Station High School is impressive. Over 400,000 square feet of classroom and activity space. Wednesday district officials opened the doors and let the media in to get a look around.

See CSISD Superintendent Dr. Eddie Coulson's interview with Steve Fullhart from First News at 4 in the video player above.

College Station high school opens this year with 9th and 10th graders. It cost around $109 million to build; 2-million less that budgeted.

It's the first LEED approve energy efficient building in College Station ISD.

"It's nice to have a beautiful facility," says CSHS Principal Mike Martindale.

"A great school is not, at the end of the day, defined by the bricks and mortar but rather the faculty, staff, the parents, the kids," shares Martindale.

The school will open up with about 700 students the first year. CSISD expects that number to double when the new attendance zones are fully-implemented.
