BRYAN The Bryan/College Station Chamber of Commerce and St. Joseph Regional Health Center are pleased to present the 6th Annual Community Softball Classic at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park this Friday, June 14, 2013.
The game features the Bryan and College Station Police Department's "Cold Steel" team sponsored by McDonald's vs. the Bryan and College Station Fire Department's "Hot Stuff" team sponsored by Atkinson Toyota.
"The Brazos Valley is blessed to be served by exceptional first responders. These often unsung heroes save lives every day and are the first link in the chain of emergency care in our community," said Brandon Lewis, DO, Medical Director of the St. Joseph Emergency Services Department.
"This special game gives the Chamber the opportunity to recognize the important role crime prevention, fire safety and other 1st responders play in protecting our citizens. Crime prevention and fire safety have a positive impact on economic development in our community," said Royce Hickman, President and CEO, BCS Chamber of Commerce. "The game also provides a time for all of us to acknowledge our 1st responders and honor the local fallen heroes from College Station Police and Bryan Fire.
A family friendly $5 ticket (kids 5 and under get in free) provides guests with a complementary and delicious summer barbeque dinner, the chance to win prizes, the opportunity acknowledge and support our local heroes, and take in a fun and entertaining local rivalry.
"There are several fun and unique sponsorship opportunities for local businesses such as having a display booth or donating prizes for the 'Moment of Silence Raffle.' The game will also provide financial support to the 100 Club which has recently helped several families in the Bryan/College Station area," said Jarrod Hix, Wells Fargo Advisors, BCS Chamber Executive Committee member and the Softball Classic Committee Event Chair (contact the Chamber for sponsor information and availability).
In addition to the softball game, activities for children will include exploring fire trucks and police cars, as well as fun crafts provided by The Children's Museum. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the BCS Chamber of Commerce front desk, local participating organizations, the Chamber website on the R.S.V.P link and at the Blue Bell Park the evening to the game.
