Guns Stolen from Bryan Store Turning Up in Nueces County

Guns stolen from a Bryan store are now being picked up by authorities to the south.

So far, four of the 80 weapons stolen from the Great Texas Gun Company have been recovered in three different incidents in Nueces County.

Back on December 17, at least five people got in to the store off Highway 21 east of Bryan, took the rifles and handguns and left. Who committed the crime remains a mystery, but just 18 days later, one of those guns was picked up in Reno, Nevada. The man holding it, Mark Mechikoff, was arrested after making a disturbance.

According to Corpus Christi Police, a second weapons was recovered during a traffic stop in nearby Robstown. Then, on June 16, CCPD was called to a complaint of a gun being discharged. No one was injured, but the weapon in question was from the Bryan store.

Then on July 5, also in Corpus, there was a standoff with police that ended with five arrests and thousands of dollars worth of drugs being recovered, along with guns. Some were stolen out of Corpus, but two had been taken from the Great Texas Gun Company.

In addition to a $1,000 reward being offered by Brazos County Crime Stoppers, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms is now offering a $5,000 reward of its own.
