DOBBIN There has been a house explosion in the Montgomery County community of Dobbin.

The incident took place around 8:15 a.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of North FM 1486 near the Highway 105 intersection. Dobbin is west of Montgomery and Conroe.

The house in question has been leveled.

According to family members, the victims are Lena Mock Knight, 65; Jennifer Mock, 58; and Wyatt Smith, eight months. Smith is the grandson of Jennifer.

All three victims were taken from the scene by helicopter for treatment of severe burns and trauma. The women were taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston. Smith was flown to the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. Montgomery County Fire Marshal Jimmy Williams says each person was in "very critical condition" as of Tuesday afternoon.

During a press conference, authorities said a state trooper and a telephone company worker ran into the burning home to pull victims out.

Family members believe the explosion happened when the stove in the home was turned on. They think there was a leak in the propane tank, which they say had been filled Monday.

Other homes in the area suffered damage, including blown-out windows. Nearby trees were knocked down, and debris was scattered across the scene. A witness there described it to News 3 as a looking like a "war zone."

Grimes County Sheriff Don Sowell says residents in Plantersville five miles from the explosion felt it.

No other injuries have been reported.

Investigators will continue their probe of the explosion Wednesday. Inclement weather in Montgomery County forced them to stop late Tuesday afternoon.
