A new art exhibit will spotlight hunger, all in an effort to help raise funds for the Brazos Valley Food Bank.
"About Hunger & Resilience", presented by Garlyn Shelton, will be on display starting Wednesday through July 25 at the Arts Council of the Brazos Valley on Dartmouth in College Station.
The exhibit features photographs shot by San Antonio's Michael Nye over nearly five years. The 40 people shown in the photos discuss their hunger experiences through audio stories.
Tuesday, a ribbon cutting was held with the Bryan/College Station Chamber of Commerce to celebrate the exhibit, which has traveled the country.
The Brazos Valley Food Bank is working on a capital campaign, trying to raise money to double the size of its storage facility. While the exhibit is free to view, donations to the bank are encouraged. It serves 40 different agencies in six counties.
By the end of 2012, the food bank is on track to distribute more than four million pounds of food.
