COLLEGE STATION Recent efforts have put a spotlight on the Museum of the American GI in College Station, and a dent in the dollar amount needed to complete construction of the museum's new facility.
Back in March, an open house brought hundreds of military enthusiasts to the area, and a new building was dedicated which will house vehicles and artifacts. Money was raised there and at the Fightin Texas Mud Run in April.
But there is still much to be done at the museum to make sure it's up and running, including electrical wiring, air conditioning and an elevator. Plus, restoration efforts of the numerous pieces of equipment takes dollars as well.
