The Wright Response - August 2, 2012

HARD TO BELIEVE IT IS AUGUST ALREADY - AND NOW, FOR MOST - THE COUNTDOWN IS ON FOR THE MUCH ANTICIPATED AGGIE FOOTBALL SEASON. KBTX, BOTH ON OUR CBS AND CW CHANNELS - HAVE SECURED BROADCAST RIGHTS TO A LOT OF RELATED A&M FOOTBALL PROGRAMMING FOR THE COMING SEASON. SOME ARE SLOW TO UPDATE THEIR RECORDS, INCLUDING E-S-P-N REGIONAL. KBTX AND CW WILL BE THE NEW HOME FOR THE 11:00 WEEKLY S-E-C GAME OF THE WEEK.

MIKE L. WROTE:

I'm hoping KBTX shows up eventually on this list of SEC Network affiliates. I am in the Waco-Temple-Bryan DMA and have DirecTV, and thus, no access to (the station presently listed). Please tell me you guys
or another channel will pick up the network. Thanks! Mike-Class of 1996

MIKE - THANKS FOR WRITING. WE QUICKLY NOTIFIED OUR E-S-P-N REGIONAL REP AND THAT INFORMATION WILL BE CORRECTED SOON. THE 11:00 GAME WILL BE ON KBTX WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE WEEK C-B-S SPORTS HAS AN S-E-C DOUBLE HEADER, BUT WILL ALWAYS BE ON CW. IT GETS COMPLICATED WITH THE E-MAILS WE'RE RECEIVING ABOUT HIGH DEFINITION. IF YOU WANT KBTX AND THE S-E-C GAME IN HIGH DEF, SUDDENLINK AND DISH NETWORK WILL HAVE IT. THE C-W IS NOT YET ON SATELLITE, BUT WE HOPE THAT WILL HAPPEN SOON. FOR NOW, KNOW THAT WE HAVE THE 11:00 GAME ON BOTH OUR CHANNELS STARTING SEPTEMBER 1ST.

RECENTLY ON FIRST NEWS AT 4, KBTX AIRED A STORY ABOUT GUN SAFETY. C-W TOOK EXCEPTION TO SOMETHING ANCHOR KARLA CASTILLO SAID.

HE WROTE:

Perhaps it would be beneficial for a reporter to either take the class, or at least do research, before commenting on what SHOULD be in a class (gun familiarization, range time, moral/legal responsibility, etc.) without knowing what IS in the class.

AND WITH ELECTION SEASON THE E-MAILS REALLY FIRE UP, THEY START NICE, CIVIL - UNTIL CLOSER TO ELECTION DATE.

K-R SENT THIS NOTE:

I saw on the 10pm July 11 KBTX news story about Republicans trying to overturn the affordable health care act and your interview with Congressman Cornyn. While it is nice to interview someone in his position about what is happening with the health care act, I have to ask myself why the news continues to beat a dead horse. Shouldn't you, as a news station be asking "why aren't the Republicans (and really also democrats) trying to "fix", "make better", "improve" the health care act? After all, look how far down the list of countries offering healthcare the U.S. is, both in actual healthcare provisions and low healthcare costs. I have to wonder if KBTX really cares about health for the American people or is KBTX controlled on what it must report as news and depth of the news, or is it just one sided on what it reports on?

OF COURSE, WE CARE - WE ARE NOT CONTROLLED ON WHAT WE REPORT ON, AND STRIVE TO NEVER BE ONE-SIDED. EVER. NOW - CAN WE DO BETTER AT BALANCING OUT INTERVIEWS? YES WE CAN. I DON'T KNOW IF THAT MEANS BACK TO BACK? OR TO GET ANOTHER SIDE LATER. BUT I DO KNOW WE ARE VERY CONSCIENTIOUS IN GETTING BOTH SIDES TO A STORY - AND YOU HAVE A POINT.

FRANKLY - LIKE YOU - I'M DISGUSTED WITH BOTH SIDES. POLITICS SEEMS TO BE MORE PREVALENT THAN EVER. FRUSTRATING.

BE IN TOUCH - WE LEARN FROM ALL ISSUES BROUGHT TO OUR ATTENTION. YOUR OPINION ALWAYS MATTERS.
