THE TRAGIC DEATH OF TRACEY WHITE - THE FREAK ACCIDENT ON HIGHWAY 21 - SURPRISINGLY WAS A TOPIC THAT TOOK ISSUE WITH KBTX. WHILE MOST OF US WERE IN PRAYERS FOR THE PERSON WHOSE LIFE WAS TAKEN - SOME WERE UPSET THAT WE DIDN'T HAVE IMMEDIATE POSTING OR AIRING OF THE NAMES OF THOSE INVOLVED.

R-K WROTE:

"PLEASE GIVE US MORE INFORMATION. WHO IS THIS PERSON AND WHY WON'T YOU SAY AT LEAST WHAT KIND OF CAR IT WAS AND GIVE A LITTLE MORE DESCRIPTION. I'M SICK OF KBTX LEAVING OUT DETAILS."

SEVERAL THINGS HERE. FIRST, KBTX CERTAINLY KNEW THE DESCRIPTION OF THE VEHICLE AND RELATED INFORMATION. MOST LIKELY, WE HAD THE NAME, BUT AS IS THE CASE - IN COOPERATION WITH AUTHORITIES WITH THE D-P-S, WE AGREE TO WITHHOLD THAT INFORMATION UNTIL FAMILY IS NOTIFIED - AND THE D-P-S WILL LET US KNOW WHEN THAT HAS TAKEN PLACE. HAD WE PUT ON INFORMATION ABOUT THE VEHICLE, OTHER FAMILIES MIGHT HAVE WORRIED UN-NECESSARILY. SOMETIMES BEING FIRST ISN'T BEST. AND FRANKLY, THE REQUEST FOR SUCH INFORMATION WAS A LITTLE INSENSITIVE. OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS REMAIN WITH TRACEY'S FAMILY.

ROY THINKS WE TALK A LITTLE FAST AT TIMES, AND MAYBE WE DO. HE WRITES:

"It would be most helpful if the blond lady weather person would slow down, separate and enunciate her words. If she would do so, we older people could keep up and understand what she is saying. She appears to be a delightful person, but Public Speaking 101 would enhance her presentation. In fact, all of your weather girls would benefit with some training in how to form and project their words. Of course, Bob is going to have a heart attack if does not slow down and quit gasping for air. He goes until he is out of air and then gasps for another breath. Listen to him."

ROY - THANKS FOR YOUR DIRECT APPROACH. WE MET ABOUT THIS EARLIER THIS WEEK AFTER SHARING THE E-MAIL WITH THE WEATHER CREW, AND ALL IN ALL, THEY SAID - YOU WERE RIGHT! HOPEFULLY, WE'RE A LITTLE EASIER TO UNDERSTAND NOW.

ELIZABETH WROTE TO US ABOUT THE NEW SET:

"I've been a loyal KBTX viewer since I moved here in 1990. I love the new studio. I do have one suggestion. As I was watching BVTM this morning, it was clear that the guest interview furniture set is way too small. Barbara Smith looked uncomfortable. The coffee table seemed a bit small. I felt bad for Michael when he hit his knee on the table. It looked like he was in significant pain. Would you consider getting something a bit more comfy for your staff as well as your future guests? I believe it would be a huge improvement over the pieces you have now. Besides the furniture issue, the set is amazing."

DID YOU JUST CALL US FAT? KIDDING. ELIZABETH - YOU ARE RIGHT, AND SINCE THIS NOTE, WE HAVE CHANGED CHAIRS AND WILL MOST LIKELY DO SO AGAIN. WE'RE WORKING OUT WAY THROUGH THIS NEW SET, AND THERE ARE MORE IMPROVEMENTS TO COME, BUT WE DO THANK YOU FOR YOUR NOTE.

SPEAKING OF THE RIBBON CUTTING, WE WERE HONORED TO HAVE BETWEEN 150 AND 200 PEOPLE ATTENDED THE EVENT LAST WEEK. ORIGINAL OWNER BUDDY BOSTICK WAS HERE WITH HIS SON-IN LAW AND DAUGHTER, RAY AND ELLEN DEAVER, AS WAS AN ORIGINAL STOCKHOLDER JOHN LAWRENCE. PEGGY GILLAM AND HER FAMILY PATTY BARTEAU AND HER TWO SONS WERE HERE AS WAS GIL GILLAM. IN FACT - BUDDY IS THE ON THE COVER OF THE MAGAZINE "WACO TODAY," SHOWN HERE - FLYING HIGH AT 94 - AND THAT HE IS.

WE'RE IN THIS TOGETHER - WE THANK YOU FOR YOUR COMMENTS, AND YOUR OPINION ALWAYS MATTERS.
