RARELY DO I GET JUST A WHOLE LOT OF GOOD FEEDBACK, BUT THESE PAST FEW DAYS TELLS ME MOST ARE IN A HOLIDAY MOOD - HYPED BY THE HEISMAN AND OTHER AWARDS BROUGHT TO AGGIELAND RECENTLY. THE COMMENTS ON KBTX COVERAGE OF THE INCREDIBLE HEISMAN JOURNEY HAVE BEEN PLENTIFUL AND A LITTLE OVERWHELMING.
HERE'S ONE FROM M.AND S. THAT SUMS IT UP:
"Mike, when we moved back to Aggieland we knew Saturdays would be fun hosting our family for Aggie games. Compared to (where we came from) we didn't expect a lot from our news station on the Heisman. I consider myself a news junkie and had always had a dream of being on-air covering my beloved Aggies. Thanks to you that fantasy reared its head again when I saw KBTX live in New York. Thanks to KBTX for the great stories and pictures that made us part of the Johnny Heisman hype. Gig'em."
THE CONVERSATION WAS A BIT LONGER, BUT THEY COULDN'T HAVE BEEN NICER. AND YES - IT WAS QUITE THE INVESTMENT, BUT AS TELEVISION STATION WITH A LONGTIME COMMITMENT TO THIS AREA, IT'S WHAT WE DO, AND WILL DO. WE HOPE TO GO BACK NEXT YEAR - IT'S POSSIBLE. BUT FOR THIS YEAR, THERE IS ONLY ONE FIRST TIME - AND THIS WAS IT. SPECIAL THANKS TO DARRYL, CODY, AND STEVE FOR SENDING BACK STORIES FROM ORLANDO AND NEW YORK, AND TO THOSE WHO ALSO POSTED COMMENTS ABOUT THE INCREDIBLE STORY BY STEVE ABOUT STATION 12.
P-M WROTE IN:
"I am so excited for Johnny for winning the Davey O'Brien Award and being "up" for the Heisman, but, please, give some "love" to Luke. He is the first Aggie ever to win the Outland Trophy AND that is a very big deal. The BCS Eagle had a small article and KBTX has just "passed" over this success. It would be nice if someone would interview Luke and let him know how proud all of us are of him and that his award is a big deal. You can bet Kevin Sumlin and our other coaches are impressed. Just look who Luke beat!"
WE WERE A LITTLE CONFUSED BY THIS E-MAIL SINCE KBTX WAS IN ORLANDO, INTERVIEWED LUKE ON-AIR AND POSTED IT ON-LINE AND DID A FOLLOW-UP STORY. WE ARE VERY PROUD OF WHAT LUKE DID, P-M HEARD BACK FROM A FEW AND DID LOCATE OUR COVERAGE. BUT - HEY - I MISS THINGS ALL THE TIME, SO NO HARM ON THE E-MAIL FROM P-M. WE'RE HAPPY TO HELP AND RESPOND.
LINDA WROTE IN WITH A CONCERN ABOUT OUR WEATHER INFORMATION ON-LINE:
"Attached is a pick of the weather page on the Internet. Why is it that the 48 hour text info is so different from the pinpoint and 7day forecasts? I wanted to know when to get my plants protected from the weather, so have been checking back all afternoon to see if there was any more accurate info. I guess you could say it was mostly worthless."
UNFORTUNATELY, KBTX EXPERIENCED A TECHNICAL GLITCH, KAILEY CAREY RESPONDED QUICKLY, AND THE ISSUE WAS RESOLVED. LINDA- YOU ARE RIGHT - WHEN THE SYSTEM GETS HUNG UP, IT CAN BE WORTHLESS AS IT RELATES TO WHAT YOU'RE LOOKING FOR. NOW - TO OUR DEFENSE, THE SUMMARY FORECAST WE WROTE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE YOU SENT INDEED HAD THE ACCURATE LOW TEMPERATURE INFORMATION ON IT, BUT WE AGREE - IT SHOULD HAVE ALL MATCHED UP.
WE'RE ON THE COUNTDOWN TO CHRISTMAS. REMEMBER - SEND ME YOUR FAVORITE NUMBER ONE CHRISTMAS MEMORY, TOY, FOOD, CUSTOM - WHATEVER IT MIGHT BE - JUST ONE - TO WRIGHT@KBTX.COM. WE'LL SHARE AS MANY AS POSSIBLE BEFORE THE HOLIDAY.
WE'RE LISTENING, WE APPRECIATE YOUR COMMENTS, AND YOUR OPINION ALWAYS MATTERS TO KBTX.
