FIRST, A THANK YOU. THE BRAZOS VALLEY MEDIA FUND ASKED FOR DONATIONS TO BENEFIT FALLEN AND INJURED FIREFIGHTERS AND THEIR FAMILIES FOLLOWING THE TRAGEDY AT THE K-C HALL.

KBTX, THE EAGLE AND BRYAN BROADCASTING JOINED TOGETHER ASKING FOR YOUR HELP, AND SO FAR, THE ACCOUNT BALANCE IS ALMOST $52,000 – WITH DONATIONS STILL COMING IN. AGAIN, THERE IS NO MORE CARING COMMUNITY THAN BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION AND THE BRAZOS VALLEY.

WHILE WE WERE NICE TO EACH OTHER DURING THAT TRAGIC TIME, WE’RE QUICKLY REMINDED THAT SOME ISSUES JUST NEVER GO AWAY. YOU NEED TO ONLY SEE AN E-MAIL FROM TIM TO HELP REMIND US OF WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS COUNTRY – A “MY WAY OR THE HIGHWAY” MENTALITY.

OUR JOB CONTINUES TO BE TO REPORT INFORMATION AS WE RECEIVE IT, SHARING ALL SIDES WHEN WE ARE ABLE TO GET COMMENTS FROM BOTH VIEWPOINTS. RASHI VATS COVERED THE EXECUTION OF CARL BLUE. NOT EVERYONE IS IN AGREEMENT WITH THE DEATH PENALTY. SOME ISSUES MAY NEVER BE RESOLVE.

TIM WROTE TO RASHI:

“You have got to be kidding me... A woman died a horrible death in excruciating pain because of that guy! How about her grieving family??? You chose to show a dozen protesters on TV and talk about the killers discussions with people rather than focus on that poor women???? Take a tall glass of shut-the-hell-up and lets listen to the victims family who have been robbed of their daughter/sister/cousin!!! He set the woman on FIRE!!!! good grief A painless lethal injection is really the only punishment he is receiving.”

THE REPORT TIM REFERRED TO AIRED DURING OUR 6PM NEWSCAST, PRIOR TO THE EXECUTION. RASHI’S RESPONSE INDICATED THAT THE VICTIM’S FAMILY CHOSE NOT TO SPEAK PRIOR TO THE EXECUTION, BUT THAT THEY MIGHT FOLLOWING THAT EVENT, AND THEY DID – AND THE QUOTE WAS INCLUDED IN THE FOLLOW-UP STORY.

WE CONTINUE TO GET QUESTIONS FROM CONCERNED VIEWERS ABOUT BOB FRENCH – AT THE SAME TIME RECEIVING SOME MUCH DESERVED LOVE FOR SHEL AND KAILEY. THE NOTES USUALLY START WITH SOMETHING LIKE THIS FROM B-C:

“MIKE – WE LIKE WATCHING SHEL AND KAILEY BUT IS BOB OK? WE HAVEN’T SEEN HIM IN A WHILE.”

M-M WROTE IN:

“Have been missing Bob French on the weather reports. Why has he not been on the last few weeks? Thank you for explaining why he hasn’t been on TV. He’s being missed!”

BOB STILL WANTS EVERYONE TO KNOW HE IS HEALTHY, JUST CONTINUING TO HANDLE SOME FAMILY ISSUES, AS PERHAPS WE ALL HAVE TO FROM TIME TO TIME. SOME ISSUES JUST TAKE A LITTLE LONGER. WE ARE STILL UNCLEAR ON BOB’S PLAN FOR A DATE TO RETURN TO KBTX. WE’LL KEEP YOU UPDATED.

FINALLY – LAST WEEK WE MENTIONED A NOTE FROM A VIEWER REQUESTING THAT WE CARRY THE 2ND HALF HOUR OF FACE THE NATION. BASED ON STEVE’S REQUEST, WE AGREED AND THOUGHT IT WAS A GOOD IDEA AND THAT 2ND HALF HOUR STARTED THIS PAST SUNDAY.

HE WROTE IN HIS ORIGINAL NOTE:

Mr. Wright:

I am concerned about your Sunday morning programming. When Face the Nation went to one hour, we were able to see the whole hour for a time. Then, First Baptist Bryan's Sunday service began to take the second half-hour spot of Face the Nation. Well, OK, I could live with that. Today, I tune in and see an infomercial instead of the church service OR Face the Nation! I may not always agree with Mr. Shieffer, but I do enjoy the political and other discussions on the program. I know that programming must be a headache for you, but I respectfully request you consider airing the entire Face the Nation program.

STEVE – YOU WERE RIGHT, AND SO WE DID. THERE ARE SOME REASONS FOR OUR ORIGINAL DECISION, AND IN A FUTURE PROGRAM, I’LL SHARE WHAT CONSIDERATIONS GO IN TO THESE PROGRAMMING DECISIONS. YOU ARE RIGHT – IT CAN BE A HEADACHE AND IS OFTEN VERY COMPLICATED – LIKE THIS ONE.

WE ARE LISTENING TO ALL OPINIONS, SO BE IN TOUCH ANY TIME. YOUR THOUGHTS MATTER TO KBTX.
