ON THIS VALENTINE’S DAY WEEK IT SEEMED MORE APPROPRIATE TO SHARE SOME POSITIVE LOVE SHOWN FOR KBTX – AND – TODAY, WE WILL FLASH BACK TIME TO 1991 FOR A COMMERCIAL AIRED ON KBTX WE ARE ASKED ABOUT FROM TIME TO TIME.

FIRST – MORE POSITIVE FEEDBACK FROM OUR AIRING OF THE STAR SPANGLED BANNER EACH MORNING AT 5:30.

FROM OUR FACEBOOK PAGE, LINDA WRITES:

“Love waking up to the start of the broadcast day with the Star Spangled Banner! Thank You!”

PETE SENT A NOTE:

“As a faithful watcher of channel 3 I was surprised to see the Star Spangled Banner today. Kudos to you for standing up for what is right. Service men and women like me especially appreciate starting the day with the stars and stripes. Keep up the good work.”

KBTX WORKS CLOSELY WITH THE TEXAS FOREST SERVICE, AND HEARING FROM PEOPLE LIKE THEIR DIRECTOR TOM MEANS A LOT TO US. HE WRITES:

“Mike, KBTX continues to be a great partner with Texas A&M Forest Service from your meteorological staffs coverage during high fire danger days (most recently just prior to Christmas Holidays) to coverage of our folks assisting in NYC during Hurricane Sandy recovery. This 39-person incident management team left for New York December 26th and it is nice to see them get some credit for their sacrifice – both personally and professionally. We have always been treated very fairly by your staff of reporters and they are very responsive when we call. This week’s efforts reinforced our connection.”

TOM IS A LIVING REMINDER THAT ALL OF US – TOO OFTEN – DON’T TAKE TIME TO SAY “THANK YOU.” WE TAKE THINGS FOR GRANTED. TOM – THANK YOU FOR TAKING TIME TO SEND US THAT NOTE.

NOW – WE HIT REWIND. THE POWER OF TELEVISION ADVERTISING IS IN RECALL, AND MOSTLY – WITH LOCAL COMMERCIALS. THE SAME ONES PEOPLE COMPLAIN ABOUT, ARE THE SAME ONES PEOPLE TALK ABOUT YEAR AFTER YEAR, WHICH MAKES IT – EFFECTIVE ADVERTISING. SO IT IS ON THIS THROWBACK THURSDAY, AS WE TAKE YOU TO 1991…THE OWNER OF A WESTERN WEAR STORES ALWAYS ENDED HIS COMMERCIAL WITH HIS GUITAR AND A LITTLE SONG.

THE PAST DEFINES US, AND I LIKE TO RE-VISIT THOSE FROM TIME TO TIME, AND WHILE WE GET QUESTIONS ABOUT ELLISON’S WESTERN WEAR, THERE ARE MANY OTHERS – AND IN COMING WEEKS, WE’LL TAKE YOU BACK IN TIME FOR A LITTLE TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE. DURING THIS WEEK WHEN LOVE IS IN THE AIR, MAY YOUR MUSIC BE BY BARRY WHITE, YOUR STRAWBERRIES DIPPED IN CHOCOLATE, AND LET’S ALL SHARE THE LOVE FOR ALL OUR FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS – JUST LIKE THEY DID ON HEE-HAW, AS WE SALUTE THE COUNTY SEAT OF ROBERTSON COUNTY, FRANKLIN, TEXAS.

WE ARE LISTENING TO ALL OF YOUR SUGGESTIONS, AND YOUR OPINION MATTERS TO KBTX.
