It is no secret that many in this area are suddenly fans of the Cleveland Browns. Richard sends in this note:
"I'm sure you've been asked this already...What are the chances we'll be able to watch the Browns this year in B/CS? I see a lot of their games will be on CBS, but I presume their performance will determine if it's National coverage or regional. If the game is televised by CBS, but not National coverage, does KBTX have the option to air it on the CW? What about another sub-channel?"
It was a week before the draft that KBTX Station Manager Lori Bruffett and I went week by week with our game selections. As a secondary home market for Houston Texans football, we must carry Texans games when CBS has them. Some days, we get choices for double-headers, and sometimes, the Texans don't play on CBS, which opens up the options. What I can tell you is this: we made a change with our week one selection and will indeed carry the Cleveland Browns season opener against Pittsburgh Sunday September 7th pending CBS approval. And by the way, they've never turned down our primary station game selection.
Prior to Johnny heading to Cleveland, when given the choice, we've opted for Miami, Denver and New England as our primary teams, Miami and Denver for obvious reasons with Aggie connections. On the remaining weeks of the season, we have our primary game selection, and an "or" below it to indicate we may switch to a Cleveland game, depending, of course, on Johnny's status with the Browns at that time. Thanks for the question, Richard. It can be a bit complicated.

"Mike it's just been in the last week or so that I've noticed when going to a live report the sound goes way down so much so I raise the volume. Then returning to the studio it blasts out. It's the very opposite to what happens during commercials. Not sure what's happened but felt I needed to write. Thanks for all you do for our community."
And thank YOU for your note. This happens from time to time and our engineers usually get right on this. There are times the audio and video aren't exactly in-sync, and it appears you are watching something akin to an old Godzilla movie. Sometimes, we need to make a correction. Sometimes, Suddenlink makes one. It frustrates both of us in this new age of technology, but the difference in audio level should NOT be happening. We will keep an eye on that and get to the root of it.
Being balanced in reporting is something we strive to do. Sometimes, it is difficult because of the elected officials in office, meaning if a Republican or Democrat are in office, they are the official representative, so we invite them to KBTX or interview them elsewhere. Steve Fullhart recently returned from joining the B/CS Chamber during their annual trip to Washington. During that time, he visited with a number of officials, including House Majority Leader Eric Cantor.
C-C sent this note:
"I am assuming tomorrow your Focus at Four will be an interview you conducted with a Democrat while in DC. Also, if the insurance that I am finally able to purchase thanks to the ACA is Washington controlled then why is my insurance through Blue Cross Blue Shield Texas? Wouldn't it be called the United States of America Insurance? Maybe should have asked Cantor that."
Steve responded rather quickly:
"Tomorrow, Democratic Congressman Henry Cuellar, who represents from Laredo up to San Antonio, is my interview."
We always strive to share both sides when at all possible.
I hope this coming Monday you will take a moment to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. It is Memorial Day, and as you celebrate, there are still those in the middle of harm's way. Pause for a moment to remember the true meaning of this very special day.
