WE ALWAYS APPRECIATE SPIRITED DISCUSSION, SO IT WAS WHEN KBTX REPORTER RASHI VATS DID A STORY ON COLLEGE STATION CITY MARSHALL CHADD HARKRIDER. THE STORY WAS ABOUT CHADD’S MANY HATS, BUT AT THE FOREFRONT IN HIS LIFE – WAS HIS FAITH AND BELIEF SYSTEM.

S-T SENT US THIS NOTE:

Anyone else offended by this story? I'm all for worshiping in any manner one chooses; however, this story crossed a line somewhere between the quadruple parallels of Separation of Church and State, unbiased/fair reporting, fundamentalist dogma, and 'who cares,' in my opinion. Not sure exactly why, but this story really irked me - and I wondered if anyone else had reason to feel the same? Good for Mr. Harkrider; but, how is this newsworthy, or even of interest to KBTX or it's viewers? Crossed the line, I say.

DUNCAN WRITES IN:

It's a fluff piece produced by a private media company which can run stories as it sees fit.

CH WAS SUPPORTIVE OF OUR STORY:

Rashi is to be thanked for her courage to cover something that is all too un-popular. The comment about 'separation' is ridiculous. First check the Constitution, second KBTX is neither church or state.

IT IS OUR GOAL TO OFTEN DO FEATURE STORIES, NOT “FLUFF STORIES” AS IT WAS REFERRED TO. IN FACT, MANY HAVE BEEN HONORED BY REGIONAL AND NATIONAL AWARDS. POINT IS – THERE ARE MORE GOOD STORIES OUT THERE THAN JUST CRIME AND POLITICAL REPORTS. WE WILL CONTINUE TO SEEK THOSE OPPORTUNITIES AND SHARE THEM WITH OUR VIEWERS ON-LINE AND ON-AIR.

AND FINALLY – A THANK YOU TO THE BRYAN ROTARY CLUB, NEWMAN PRINTING AND ANCO INSURANCE. KBTX WAS HUMBLED TO RECEIVE THE ANCO “LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD. WE CONGRATULATE ALL NEWMAN 10 AWARD WINNERS, AND ARE HONORED TO BE IN YOUR COMPANY.

WHILE WE RECEIVED NUMEROUS NOTES OF CONGRATULATIONS, LYNN WROTE:

Back to the time of our family friend, Harry Gillam, KBTX has consistently been an integral and important part of Bryan-College Station and our extended community. We appreciate the attention and support that you and KBTX have given and continue to give to (charitable causes).

LYNN – YOU COULDN’T BE MORE RIGHT. HAD IT NOT BEEN FOR THE VISION OF BUDDY BOSTICK AND HARRY GILLAM IN LEADING KBTX, WE WOULDN’T BE HAVING THIS DISCUSSION. WE ALWAYS TRY TO REMEMBER THOSE WHO CAME BEFORE US, WHO LEAD US TO THIS MOMENT WE SHARE. HARRY PASSED AWAY IN THE MID 80S, BUT HIS FAMILY CONTINUES TO BE CLOSELY ASSOCIATED WITH THIS FAMILY – AT KBTX.

CONSTRUCTION IS NOW UNDERWAY FOR A BRAND NEW NEWS, WEATHER, SPORTS AND INTERVIEW SET FOR KBTX. WE WENT LOCAL, USING THE SERVICES OF KENT MOORE CABINETS IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF THIS HUGE PROJECT. WE’LL KEEP YOU UPDATE ON-LINE, ON FACEBOOK, ON AIR, AND WITH PICTURES OF OUR PROGRESS FROM TIME TO TIME ON TWITTER AS WE WORK TO TAKE THIS PARTNERSHIP AND DEDICATION TO THE BRAZOS VALLEY TO ANOTHER LEVEL.

BE IN TOUCH ANYTIME. WE’RE LISTENING, WE THANK YOU FOR YOUR INPUT, AND YOUR OPINION ALWAYS MATTERS.
