KBTX CHIEF METEOROLOGIST HAS BEEN OUT OF POCKET FOR A FEW MONTHS ATTENDING TO FAMILY ISSUE. BOB – AND ALL OF US AT KBTX – APPRECIATE THE CONCERN YOU’VE EXPRESSED THROUGH PHONE CALLS AND E-MAILS. MOST E-MAILS HAVE THE SAME THEME INCLUDING A COMPLIMENT TO SHEL WINKLEY AND KAILEY CAREY – WHO HAVE DONE A REMARKABLE JOB OF MAKING SURE WEEKDAY SHIFTS ARE COVERED, WHILE CRYSTAL PLOEHN HANDLES BEHIND THE SCENE DUTIES AND WEEKEND WEATHER. TO THOSE THREE, I THANK YOU.
My husband and I are wondering what happened to Bob French. It seems like a good while since we have seen him, but if he left, we never heard anything. All the weather team does a great job, but we miss “old friends”.
ROBERT SENT THIS NOTE FROM CENTERVILLE:
I don't mean to pry, but I'm concerned. I haven't seen Mr. French on the weather in a good while, and a while back when I emailed him, he mentioned that he was 'under the weather', no pun intended. I've emailed him a few days back, and I haven't gotten an answer, so I was wondering if he was still ill, or if he had gone into weather retirement. The weather team is surely not lacking for talent, I just miss seeing Mr. Bob.
CK WROTE IN:
Me and my family are concerned. We might have missed episode, but haven't seen Bob on and wanted to know if he has relocated or if he's okay. (Miss him). Also, tell Shel he is looking good! I know he has lost weight-need his secret.
WELL – YOU ARE RIGHT ABOUT SHEL. HE’S HALF THE MAN HE USED TO BE…ALMOST, AND I COULDN’T BE MORE PROUD OF HIS EFFORT. ABOUT BOB, WE PLAN TO MEET EARLY NEXT WEEK TO FIND OUT HOW THINGS ARE GOING AND CATCH UP A BIT, WE ARE STILL UNSURE OF HIS RETURN. HE’S HEALTHY, JUST HANDLING FAMILY MATTERS.
SWITCHING GEARS, LET’S DECLARE THIS THROW-BACK THURSDAY. SOME COMMERCIALS ARE MORE MEMORABLE THAN OTHERS. SUCH IS THE CASE WITH PERHAPS THE MOST MEMORABLE OF ALL TIME. THERE AREN’T TOO MANY PEOPLE WHO HAVE LIVED AROUND HERE FOR A WHILE – WHO DON’T KNOW ABOUT THE PERSON OR THE DEALERSHIP WHEN YOU HEAR THE PHRASE, “COME SEE PAW-PAW.”
WHILE THAT COMMERCIAL WAS ONE TOWARD THE END OF THE RUN, WE SAW SEVERAL KIDS GROW UP ON THAT CAMPAIGN. JIMMY IS VERY MUCH ALIVE AND WELL IN THE TOMBALL AREA. IT IS MY HOPE TO GET AN INTERVIEW AND LIFE-UPDATE FROM JIMMY AT SOME POINT.
WE HAVE MORE WHERE THAT CAME FROM, AND COMMENTS ARE NEVER-ENDING. YOU BE IN TOUCH ANYTIME, WE’RE ALWAYS LISTENING, AND WHAT YOU THINK MATTERS TO KBTX NEWS 3.
