Texas A&M students Thursday voted themselves a $3-per-semester fee to establish the "Aggie Green Fund" to support sustainability efforts on campus. The students initiated the campaign to raise their fees by $3 per semester after the Legislature passed a bill in its most recent session authorizing public colleges and universities in Texas to establish such fees if supported by the student body.
The vote to establish the "Aggie Green Fund" was approved by a 57-percent majority as part of campus-wide elections in which almost 12,000 Aggies participated Thursday.
