All this week, Brazos Valley This Morning is giving you tips on how you can get green, and maybe save some as well.
Wednesday, we dove into the topics of protecting and saving water.
Mark Jurica with the City of Bryan and Jennifer Nations with the City of College Station were on hand to discuss a number of issues.
Among the topics were to make sure not to put things like medicines down the drain. Medicines can't be treated by the wastewater plants, and also could come into contact with wildlife if released into receiving streams after going through the treatment process.
Check to see if the pharmacy you use has a take-back program, or use the Brazos Valley Solid Waste Management Agency's household hazardous waste event semi-annually to dispose of the meds. The next one is in October.
You can also use water Mother Nature provides from the sky rather than water from a faucet to keep your yard clean and save some green in your pocket. Getting a rain collecting container can save money on your water bill. Plus, things like soaker hoses and shower head adapters that limit the water coming out can save you money as well.
