A plan in the works for a decade takes another step today when Interior Secretary Ken Salazar heads to Boston to reveal details about the nation's first offshore wind farm.
A person briefed on the visit says that Salazar will unveil a final operation and construction plan for the 130-turbine Cape Wind project.
The person declined to be identified because he was not authorized to discuss the announcement ahead of the event.
The Cape Wind project in Nantucket Sound recently received its final federal permit, allowing it to move forward.
The project still faces hurdles, including legal challenges from opponents.
Developers of the 468-megawatt project are also shopping for a buyer for about half the power the turbines are expected to generate.
