CHRISTUS Dubuis Hospital of Bryan, a long-term acute care hospital (LTACH), held a grand opening in St. Joseph Rehabilitation Hospital Wednesday. The opening was celebrated with an open house and blessing of the facility.
The 30-bed facility will be located within St. Joseph Rehabilitation Hospital on the 2nd floor, with all private rooms and ample space to provide long term acute care services in a healing environment, and will operate as a “hospital-within-a-hospital.” The new hospital is owned and managed by Dubuis Health system, which is the largest not-for-profit, faith-based long term acute care hospital system in the country and is sponsored by CHRISTUS Health, of Irving, Texas.
LTACHs have developed processes to care for acute patients who require extended hospitalizations resulting in lengths of stay greater than 25 days, and generally provide care to patients on ventilators, wound care and patients who are medically complex . CHRISTUS Dubuis Hospital of Bryan began accepting patients on May 12, 2008.
