Local Dentist Earns Clinic Honor

Updated: Thu 3:42 PM, Aug 14, 2008

A longtime dentist now has a clinic dedicated in his honor.

The expanded dental clinic through the Brazos Valley Community Action Agency was an effort Dr. Bill Birdwell helped lead, as he worked to develop the program to provide care for uninsured or under-insured residents.

Birdwell also helped raise funds for the project.

"Dr. Birdwell epitomizes what the term Community Servant is: he both leads and serves in most humble and noble ways," said BVCAA Deputy Director Eric Todd. "Since the inception of the Community Dental Clinic, he has been a guiding force in its design and its spirit of outreach and caring.

BVCAA's says their clinic network provided care for about 17,000 people last year alone.
