Colon Cancer Care

In a St. Joseph Healthscene report, according to a new report, a majority of U.S. hospitals are failing to meet a key quality benchmark for colon cancer care. More than 60% of them aren't doing a thorough enough job of checking to see if the disease has moved to the lymph nodes. Experts say doctors should examine at least 12 lymph nodes to figure out whether the cancer has spread, and that treatment guidelines, including chemotherapy, depend on the results.
