In a St. Joseph Healthscene report, the Food and Drug Administration is trying to implement a mandatory tracking program for food. Officials will introduce a proposal next week that would create a separate agency to monitor the flow of food, especially produce, that can cause sickness. Regulators struggled earlier this year to pinpoint the source of the salmonella outbreak that made more than 1400 people ill.
