In a St. Joseph Healthscene report, exercise soon after a stroke may boost the long-term prognosis. Some experts say if people who've had a stroke can be out of bed and walking within 24 hours, they're far less likely to face depression. Post-stroke depression is a major concern, associated with less participation in rehab, a poorer rate and extent of recovery, and a increased risk of death.
