In honor of breast cancer awareness month, St. Joseph Regional Health Center and Suddenlink are cooking up a treat for the Brazos Valley.
The 6th annual Surviving and Thriving luncheon is Wednesday at the Hilton Hotel in College Station.
It starts at 11:30 a.m. and tickets are $35 each.
Proceeds benefit the St. Joseph Cancer Center and the local American Cancer Society.
The event's guest speaker is Kathryn Childers, one of the first five women hired by the Secret Service. Mrs. Childers recognizes the importance of early detection, and is one of the founders of Corpus Christi's First Friday program, which to date has given away more than 10,000 free mammograms to women in need.
For ticket information, call 731-1231.
