In a St. Joseph Healthscene report, major drug companies have decided cough and cold medicines should not be given to children 4 and younger. Out of what it called an abundance of caution, an industry group announced Tuesday it will no longer recommend young children use the medications. Doctors and consumer advocates have called on the FDA to reject the over the counter medicines for kids as old as 12.
