Cholesterol Drugs and Your Heart

In a St. Joseph Healthscene, Statin drugs may not be just for people with high cholesterol. A study of nearly 18,000 patients has shown the drugs cut the risk of heart attack and stroke by almost 50% for people *without* cholesterol problems. The benefit was so great that the planned 4-year study was halted after less than 2. Doctors say the findings could transform the way cardiovascular disease is diagnosed and treated.
