In a St. Joseph Health Scene Report, according to recent research, healthcare workers are more likely to die from blood-borne infections than people working in other occupations. Researchers found that needle sticks and other accidents on the job expose medical professionals to diseases like HIV and Hepatitis. Past investigations have suggested that most of these infections were not contracted while working.
