In a St. Joseph Health Scene Report, according to a new survey an estimated five million people a year use self-help addiction programs. Nearly half of the people who attend groups like Alcoholics Anonymous said they remained clean. A third of those surveyed also reported undergoing more formal addiction treatment like rehab.
