In a St. Joseph Health Scene Report, giving steroid pills to toddlers who are wheezing from colds won't help. A study of preschoolers who were hospitalized with a wheezing attack found those who received steroids stayed just as long as the kids who were given placebos. About one third of pre-schoolers develop wheezing but at least 75% outgrow the problem by age six.
